Varujan Boghosian: A Retrospective
Robert M. Doty
1989 · First Edition
A beautifully produced museum exhibition catalogue devoted to American artist Varujan Boghosian (1926–2020), published in conjunction with his 1989 retrospective at the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College and the Currier Gallery of Art.
Known for his poetic assemblages and collages made from found objects, antique imagery, toys, fragments, and other remnants of the past, Boghosian developed a distinctive visual language influenced by Surrealism and Dada.
This substantial catalogue includes an introduction by Robert M. Doty, a poem by Stanley Kunitz, numerous color and black-and-white reproductions, a checklist of 70 exhibited works, biography, bibliography, and photo credits.
A wonderful reference for collectors of American modern and contemporary art, assemblage, collage, Surrealism, and museum exhibition catalogues.
